This project was the result of submitting an initial design to the Basil Hayden Tastemakers Chicago Design Contest. The objective was to design an object inspired by the Basil Hayden brand, using the unique bottle design and distinctive taste of this bourbon as inspiration. I was chosen as one of the three finalists in this compeition. I was awarded $2,500 to produce a prototype chair, which I presented at the final event. Starting from hand sketches, I then designed and rendered the bH chair using Rhino 3D. From these digital drawings, tool paths were created for a CNC-router. With the CNC-router, profiles of the chair were cut from sheets of baltic birch plywood, which were then carefully glued, sanded and veneered to achieve the finished product.
